community in which we operate. Our mission is for each community to
see our program as a creative asset. Each program must be viewed as
a community partner actively interested in seeking positive solutions
to difficult problems. To be viewed as an active partner and creative

the needs and demands of our communities. Our mission is to develop
and maintain a continuum of care mental health system that is viewed

What is Day Treatment?
A facility providing an alternative, community-based treatment option
offering intensive intervention and preventative services. Day Treatment
Programs provide social workers, communities, schools, and courts with
treatment options in efforts to prevent the further deterioration of
behaviors and mental illness, including providing groundwork to prevent
placement alternatives. Day Treatment Programs also provide additional
therapeutic support services for adolescents and children transitioning
to the community from out-of-home placements.

- A primary mental health disorder (involving behavioral and/or emotional
difficulties).
- An inability to obtain sufficient benefits from less restrictive
treatment services.
- A reasonable likelihood to benefit from services based on information
available.
- Be experiencing significant dysfunction in basic domains of living,
in need of transitional services after placement in an inpatient placement,
residential placement, or acute crisis. Domains of life may include:
school, home, community.
- To prevent more restrictive placement or reintegrate into the community
following placement.

Description of Services:
Individual Counseling: Individual Counseling sessions are
conducted on a regular basis, with 1 - 2 sessions per client, per week.
These sessions work to address specific identified issues.
Group Counseling: Groups are conducted throughout each day
targeting the individual needs of each client. Groups are facilitated
in discussion, educational and experiential formats on such topics as
anger management, coping skill development, social skill building, human
development, issues of abuse, dealing with mental illness and self-esteem.
Educational Programming: Educational Coordinators work collaboratively
with the school systems in order to develop educational experiences.
We implement the PASS program for adolescent clients. School work is
completed for 2 hours per day.
Family Intervention: Family Support Groups are held on a regular
basis at each site. In addition, family involvement in the program is
strongly encouraged. Aftercare planning often includes a recommendation
for family counseling.
Intensive Structure Supervision: Staffing patterns are 1:4
with 1 Mental Health Professional for every 4 clients. Behavior modification
is stressed in our programming.
Medical Director and RN Services: Our medical director provides
on-site service at our Frederic location. In addition, we contract with
registered nurses for medical services at each of our sites.
Occupational Therapy: NWCGC Day Treatment Programs contract
with a rehabilitation service to provide clients with weekly occupational
and recreational therapy services.
Psychological Consultation: Psychological evaluations are available,
based on previous evaluations and need. Psychological Consultation is
provided to staff on-site each week.
Psychiatric Consultation: A psychiatric evaluation is completed
as deemed appropriate and necessary by day treatment staff.
AODA Services: AODA evaluations, counseling, and group counseling,
and prevention services are available at 3 of 6 sites.
Staffings: Staffings are conducted at the request of staff,
social worker, family, school, etc.
Discharge Planning: Each client is given aftercare recommendations
and provided with referrals as needed.
A discharge packet is provided, which includes the results of evaluations.
We work to actively engage other treatment and social service providers
when working with the client and family. Family participation is stressed
when working with day treatment services.
Payment:
Private Insurance: NWCGC-Day Treatment Programs work with
insurance companies.
Medical Assistance: NWCGC-Day Treatment Programs accept medical
assistance.
County Options: County contracts can be negotiated or completed
on a case by case basis.
School Options: School contracts can be negotiated or completed
on a case by case basis.
Independent Funding Sources: NWCGC-Day Treatment Programs work
with funding sources in order to provide excellent service to each client.
