| Mission and Goals |
| |
| Mission: Pursuant to Wis. S. 115.86, county Board Resolution
#138-85 (11/14/85) county Board Ordinance #311 (11/13/86), participating
School Boards, Marathon County Children with Disabilities Education Board
agrees to do all necessary activities to provide special education including
staff, materials, equipment, and other for those School Boards electing
such services to the extent of the joint agreements. |

| Ensure that all eligible children and youth receive appropriate
educational opportunities within State and Federal laws. |

| Objectives: |
| |
- Maintain Board membership knowledge of needs, activities, and options
for policy decision-making.
- Secure and maintain professional staff with appropriate State licensure
and expertise for implementation of Board policies.
- Secure and maintain appropriate instructional materials and equipment
for student benefit with staff direction.
- Provide State approved management, fiscal data and word processing
expertise for reporting and communications.
- Assure adequate facilities for all instructional and management
expertise for operational efficiency.
- Assess needs and plan appropriate programs for all eligible students.
- Maintain fiscally sound management system.

| Impact: |

- Provide educational and assessment service to over 750 full and
part-time students with special needs.
- Provide management and leadership to over 100 staff including school
psychologists, school social workers, program support specialists,
occupational and physical therapists, instruction staff, and aides.
- Maintain increased school attendance and student achievement through
graduation; increase student achievements.
- Provide alternatives for institutional care costs.
- Increases employability probabilities.
- Provide efficiency and effectiveness in a County multi-district
function for the securing of special grants and for the research and
development of alternatives.

| Activities: |
| |
- Board: attend meetings sponsored by the school boards association;
read current literature; attend Board meetings; participate in Board
policy decisions for total operations.
- Administration: attend meetings for chief school superintendents
and Boards; read current literature; provide Board with information
and alternatives for decisions; direct, guide and evaluate staff in
the implementation of Board decisions; submit plans, claims and reports
to State and Federal administrators.
- Instructional staff: participate in continuing development learning,
participate in the assessment, planning, education, and evaluation
of students; recommend needs in facilities, furniture, equipment,
materials, schedules, and structuring.
- Pupil and support staff: provide local school district level coordination
with regular education for disabled students; monitor instructional
staff performance; participate in the pupil assessment/planning process;
support instructional staff in areas of expertise.
- Office staff: budget management, data and report processing, word
processing and communications.
